Build a Rotating Display Turntable for Model Photography
A rotating display turntable can give your Gundam or mecha model a clean 360-degree presentation without requiring dozens of separate camera positions. Choose The Platform And Drive

Attach a pulley to the motor shaft and position the motor so a rubber O-ring or belt contacts the underside of the rotating platform. Direct friction drive is quieter and easier to adjust than a chain or toothed gear. Use a slotted motor bracket if possible, allowing you to change belt tension without drilling new holes.

Add Power And Rotation Control
Connect the motor to a switch and speed controller, then test the direction of travel. A reverse-polarity switch can be useful when you want to present the opposite side of a model without lifting it. Keep wires underneath the base and add strain relief where they leave the enclosure.
A microcontroller such as an Arduino can provide timed rotation, start-and-stop photography and repeatable intervals. For a simpler setup, a PWM motor controller with a dial is enough. Set the lowest reliable speed first, then increase it until the movement is smooth. If the motor stalls, reduce the load, improve the belt contact or select a higher-torque model.
